How to play dredge modern10/6/2023 ![]() Your best matchups on Dredge are most fair decks, Burn, and Phoenix Decks. Dredge’s worst matchup is Amulet Titan, because of that I have considered trying to run Unmoored Ego to take away their Primeval Titans, however that just seemed to narrow. I personally run Gnaw to the Bone to beat Burn in my sideboard but it isn’t as common anymore. Leyline of the Void comes in against any graveyard deck and can averagely steal games for you. ![]() Assassin’s Trophy can also deal with those problem hate cards, but Assassin’s Trophy is also very good against Tron and any creatures that are also hard to deal with. You bring Nature’s Claim in 90% of the time just to deal with a Leyline of the Void, Grafdigger’s Cage, or Rest in Peace. Lightning Axe is very good in creature matchups, it allows you to discard a card while also killing a decently large creature. Some stock cards in the sideboard of Dredge are Lightning Axe, Nature’s Claim, Assassin’s Trophy, and Leyline of the Void. Scourge Devil unearths for 2 and a red and gives all creatures you control +1/+0 which can just kill people. I get to play 5 copies of my best card, sounds absolutely amazing to me! Scourge Devil gives you an extra way to end the game. Yes I play The Flame of Keld it is absolutely bonkers! Think of Flame of Keld as an extra copy of Cathartic Reunion, just slightly worse. The other changes I have made to my list is that I play 18 lands instead of 19, and I play one copy of The Flame of Keld and Scourge Devil. On top of that, Bloodghast is also normally used to return Prized Amalgam which is by far your best creature. I find that I very rarely need to instant speed return a Bloodghast because my opponent is already at 10 or less life. ![]() Fetchlands in dredge allow you to instant speed return Bloodghast, which is nice, but it is not always need. In the Dredge list I choose to run I opt to not play fetchlands. ![]()
